  8月7日,参加夏令营的营员们游览了南京市城,并到雨花台烈士陵园和中山陵参观。8月8日,本届夏令营的重头戏英语辩论赛开始了,下面我们跟随林黛静一起走进夏令营一线吧!

Work together!Every day in every way, the excitement was non-stop in the camp. We went sightseeing today. After visiting Yuhuatai, we climbed up about 390 steps at Zhongshanling; Nanjing is surely a beautiful city. That wasn't all! We still had to stay energetic for the evening. Why? To prepare for the debate scheduled for the following day. My teammates were two campers from Jilin Province. Some teams even consisted of debaters from three totally different places. Imagine all those top students from all over the country forming teams and working side by side, how cool it is!The topic we got was, “It is better to live in the city than to live in the countryside.” After a short discussion, we listed our points and worked out the strategy. Then the boys went to watch the Asian Cup. What can I say? Boys are always crazy about sports.

It was really hot outside, but not as hot as inside—the report hall, where rival teams got into heated debates. I felt better this time, because I had two partners sitting beside me, and three more students on the opposing side. Debater 1 from both sides spoke first. The “Against” side started by saying that there were pollution problems in cities. As Debater 2, I immediately argued by saying that most people had already realized the importance of protecting the environment. I then gave a few examples of how citizens had pressured the government to make tougher laws. My teammates and I cooperated pretty well. Finally, our Debater 3 made the summary statement. The debate went on until 3 p.m. An hour later, the most exciting moment came. The award ceremony was HERE! On the stage, the long desk was piled high with certificates(证书). The crystal cups and medals were shining brightly. As the music and announcement of winners were heard, contestants came and went up on the stage. Smiles spread across the winners' faces, but for those who didn't get an ideal prize, tears had built up behind their eyes. It was part of the competition. I got two first prizes for both the speech contest and the debate. It had been a roller-coaster ride all the way up to the top. I had been through many mental ups and downs, but all that tension and tiredness turned into joy when I held the two heavy crystal cups. It was an amazing feeling. You don't think you're going to get from more than 5,000,000 hopefuls down to the last 6, especially with so many talented people competing with you. It was like a dream coming true.

Goodbye, Nanjing! Time flies when we were having fun. All too soon, we'd be going our separate ways. Looking at my new friends signatures (签名) on my cap, visions of the whole week flashed before my eyes: the speech contest, the debate, the English learning experience exchange, the English party, and all my new friends. They were all so special, talented and gifted. We made a pact that we'd never forget each other and would always keep in touch! We all agreed that this week was the best we had ever had this summer. The seven days I spent at the camp seemed to pass by in an instant, but the memory of such a unique experience will stay with me for a lifetime. “Goodbye, Nanjing!” I said as the bus drove away. Gone were the days of the summer camp. It was time to begin a new chapter of my life.
