  A Joyful Experience

Taking part in this year's Star of Outlook English Speaking Competition is such a great experience for me. As a freshman of non-English major, I never thought I would be able to make it into the finals. The fact that I really did really made me believe that things aren't always as difficult as you think them to be.

I've always held that English learning should be a fun and rewarding experience. During the one and half weeks I kept telling myself, whatever happens, just go at it full blast and let myself go. Everyday, I made sure that I was having fun and that I was proud of all I was doing.

What impressed me most was the warm feeling of being with all the contestants coming from different parts of China. They were of different age groups but they shared one thing: they all had great great passion for language learning. When I saw those little kids chit-chatting with each other in perfect English while dining together, I suddenly realized that's what learning English is all about-to achieve better communications and understanding of people.

Aside from the fun I had, I was also lucky to have learnt so much from my competitors-their eloquency and unique perspective, strong presence on stage, the knowledge of never backing down in face of difficulties...All such things will help me grow as a speaker and a maturer person in general.

I'm often looking back on my days in Beijing and refreshing those wonderful memories. I know this is not the end, but the beginning of even brighter college years.
