　　Student defends sleeping in class

　　A middle school student in Shaanxi Province has sent an online memo to the provincial governor, requesting the governor's help to question the school's fine for dozing off in class, People's Daily Online reported.

　　The student from Huaxing Middle School, Xingping County, sent his online memo to Governor Lou Qinjian to express his "extreme dissatisfaction" with the school's regulations to fine students caught sleeping in class and deemed the fine "groundless and arbitrary."

　　"Students in my school will be fined 60 yuan (US$9.6) if caught sleeping in class. But we never know where the 60 yuan goes," read the online memo posted at 6:41p.m. on April 18.

　　The anonymous student defended his fellow students, saying "students in puberty are prone to fatigue under schooling pressure," adding that the school's authorities were indirectly taking money from the students' parents。

　　The student admitted sleeping in class was not right, but urged the governor to intervene with the school's arbitrary charge。

　　The governor's office has not responded to the memo。
