①The scores were then used in conjunction with an applicant’s score on the Graduate Management Admission Test, or GMAT[微博], a standardized exam which is marked out of 800 points, to make a decision on whether to accept him or her.②Dr Simonsohn and Dr Gino discovered that their hunch was right. If the score of the previous candidate in a daily series of interviewees was 0.75 points or more higher than that of the one before that, then the score for the next applicant would drop by an average of 0.075 points.③This might sound small, but to undo the effects of such a decrease a candidate would need 30 more GMAT points than would otherwise have been necessary。

1.以800分为满分进行打分:be marked out of 800 points

X be used in conjunction with Y to make a decision

  3.是否录取某人:whether to accept someone

4.平均减少0.075分:drop by an average of 0.075 points

5.消除X所带来的影响:undo by an effects of X(Leon解词:undo=to try to remove the bad effects of something you have done)

①The scores were then used in conjunction with an applicant’s score on the Graduate Management Admission Test, or GMAT, a standardized exam which is marked out of 800 points, to make a decision on whether to accept him or her。

结构提示:or GMAT, a standardized exam which is marked out of 800 points,作为the Graduate Management Admission Test的同位语。

②Dr Simonsohn and Dr Gino discovered that their hunch was right. If the score of the previous candidate in a daily series of interviewees was 0.75 points or more higher than that of the one before that, then the score for the next applicant would drop by an average of 0.075 points。

If the score of the previous candidate in a daily series of interviewees was 0.75 points or more higher than that of the one before that, then the score for the next applicant would drop by an average of 0.075 points。 If the score of the previous candidate in a daily series of interviewees was 0.75 points or more higher than that of the one before that,是条件状语从句。

③This might sound small, but to undo the effects of such a decrease a candidate would need 30 more GMAT points than would otherwise have been necessary。

结构提示:to undo the effects of such a decrease作为目的状语。

  ①这些分数随后和GMAT(管理学研究生入学考试,以800分为满分进行打分的标准化考试)的分数,共同决定是否录取申请者。
