Steven and Margaret are going to the movies, but they can’t agree on what to see. Listen to Steven try to persuade Margaret into seeing the movie he wants to see.

　　Steven: Oh, look! If we hurry we can get into the 9:30 show of“Urban Assault”!

　　Margaret: You’ve got to be kidding! You dragged me all the way out here to watch a war movie?

　　玛格丽特：你在开玩笑吧！你大老远拖我到这里来看战争片？

　　Steven: What did you think we were going to see?

　　史蒂文：你本来以为我们要看什么？

　　Margaret: I had my hopes set on seeing“My Mother Cries a River”–it’s a French movie that got wonderful reviews.

　　Steven: French? But you know how much of a headache I get reading subtitles. Besides,“My Mother Cries a River”? It sounds like a real downer.

　　Margaret: No, no–it’s a powerful and uplifting story…

　　Steven: So is“Urban Assault 8”! It’s about the outnumbered defenders of a city prevailing against terrible odds, and fighting off attacks from an evil army.

　　史蒂文：《末代启示录》也是啊！它讲的是一个城市的防守部队在胜算很小的情况下获胜，击退了邪恶军队的攻击。

　　Margaret: Well, you already know how it ends, so why bother seeing it?

　　玛格丽特：嗯，你已经知道结局了嘛，为什么还要去看？

　　Steven: For the excitement and the special effects! The effects are supposed to be out of this world, so you have to see them on the big screen. With romances and dramas, it doesn’t really matter if you see them in the theater or on TV and“My Mother Cries a River”will probably be on cable TV within a few weeks anyway.

　　史蒂文：为了那种兴奋和特效啊！特效应该很精彩，所以你一定要在大银幕上看。如果是爱情文艺片和剧情片的话，你在电视上看或在电影院看都没什么差别，而且《母亲泪流成河》可能几个礼拜内就会在有线电视上播放了。

　　Margaret: I tell you what: you go see your war movie, and I’ll go see what I want to see.

　　Steven: Are you sure about that?

　　史蒂文：你确定吗？

　　Margaret: Sure, why not? After all, I’ve heard that“My Mother Cries a River”is very popular with sensitive and romantic men. I might meet one here who’s also handsome and single.

　　玛格丽特：当然啊，为什么不行？毕竟，我已经听说《母亲泪流成河》很受既体贴又浪漫的男生欢迎，我可能会在这里遇见长得帅的单身男人。

　　Steven: Umm…you know, this“My Mother Cries a River”might not be that bad after all. I can probably catch“Urban Assault 8”on DVD in a few months.
