 What are the most popular TV programmes in Britain? And why are they so popular?

Most people in Britain have television in their homes and about half of the population spend some time in front of the TV set every week.
There is a wide range of TV programmes on offer. News and current affairs, comedies and tragedies, TV dramas and entertainment. There are also various children's programmes. So there is something for everyone.
But what are the most popular programmes? And why are they popular? Yang Li and Finn Aberdein put the questions to a number of British people and see what they think.
