Shelly is a telecom expert and Sergio's friend.
Shelly: Mobile phone technology is in a new shift. Nokia, Ericsson, Motorola and Samsung are all making changes.
Sergio: I heard of some new technologies coming out.
Shelly: There's W-CDMA which is supposed to rival CDMA in bandwidth. GSM networks are being upgraded.
Sergio: My friend told me that there is a new short signal radio technology.
Shelly: You must be talking about Bluetooth. This new wireless technology is going to remove a lot of wires. Soon you can dial up your friend just using a headset. The rest of the phone can be on your belt.
Sergio: Then I can also communicate with appliances like my refrigerator.
Shelly: When they finish developing smart appliances you can theoretically restock your fridge through your hand phone. Later, your fridge cansgroupsby itself when it is empty.
Sergio: Great! Finally, I foresee a day when I can stay at home all day.
Shelly: What will you do at home?
Sergio: I never thought about that. People first create breakthroughs and then react to them.
Shelly: With so much communication, we will soon be one big global brain.
Sergio: As technology keeps unfolding, it will inevitably create a technological evolution.
Shelly: Let us hope that it serves us well.
