Julia has opened an import and export company in Hong Kong. Tom Turner, a Canadian textile merchandiser comes for a meeting.
Tom: Hi Julia. How have you been?
Julia: Very good, Tom. I have been exceedingly busy. You know with the expected WTO deal in the works, a lot of companies want to send their productssintosChina.
Tom: Just like us. You have seen some of the samples I sent to you. We manufacture a cotton-lycra blend fabric that can be madesintosone size fits all clothing.
Julia: How is it made?
Tom: Our customized textile factory in Regina produces reams of lycra and cotton. These are then shipped to our combination factory just outside of Toronto that combines the two materials and shapes the fabric. Anybody of any size can wear our clothes without discomfort.
Julia: I've seen the sample. Truly amazing. What are your FOB prices and do you work with letters of credit?
Tom: We charge US.07 per kilogram based on a full crate. I can also arrange an LOC.
Julia: How heavy is the crate?
Tom: Standard crate size is 300 kilograms. I can ship you bulk material which is cheaper by US.57 per kg.
Julia: Let me pass it by my director then I will get back to you.
