Put out
1.to make a fire etc stop burning.
熄灭;关熄;消灭;消除
Example: put out a fire扑灭火灾;熄掉炉火
put out the light/gas关掉电灯(煤气)
2.feel / be put out, to feel upset or offended.
困扰;使不安;使不便
Example: We were a little put out at not being invited to the wedding.
例句:我们为没有被邀请参加婚礼而有所不安。
3.to make extra work or cause problems for someone.
麻烦;打扰某人。
Example: Don’t put yourself out for us!
例句:请不要为我们忙吧!
4.put oneself out, to make an effort to do something that will help someone为帮助某人而做出努力。
Example: Fred rarely puts himself out on other people’s behalf.
