Friends,中文译名为《六人行》或《老友记》是美国正在热播的一个sitcom (即situation comedy)也就是我们所说的情景喜剧。它之所以这么受欢迎，是因为其内容轻松，语言幽默，每每令人捧腹不已。对于英语学习者来说，我们更能从中学到不少地道的口语。现在就请大家和我一起感受其中的乐趣吧！

　　在Joey的生日派对上，Chandler喝醉了，他和Joey七个姐妹当中的一个发生了关系，用他自己的话来说就是：I fooled around with Joey's sister.更糟的是他记不清究竟是和哪一个fooled around。最后Chandler鼓起勇气去向Joey的姐妹道歉:

　　Chandler: I wasn't sure which one Mary-Angela was. Look, I'm sorry okay, I was really drunk, and you all look really similar.

　　Joey's Sister: I say, punch him Joey.

　　All: Yeah! Punch him!!

　　Chandler: Y'know what, we should all calm down because your brother's not going to punch me. Are ya?

　　Joey: Well, that is usually what I would do. But I just never thought you'd be on the receiving end of it. How could you do this?!

　　Chandler: Joey if you wanna punch me, go ahead, I deserve it. But I just want you to know that I would never soberly hurt you or your family, you're my best friend. I would never do anything like this ever again.

　　Cookie: So what. I say, punch him.

　　All: Yeah! Punch him! Punch him!

　　Joey: No! No! No! No, I'm not going to punch Chandler.

　　Cookie: I'll do it.

　　Joey: No you won't. Look he knows he did a terrible thing and I believe him, he's sorry. But, (to Chandler) you've got one more apology to make, all right, you've got to apologize to Mary-Angela.

　　Chandler: Okay, absolutely!

　　Joey: All right.

　　现在我们知道Chandler应该向谁道歉了，原来她的名字是Mary-Angela,可Joey的七个姐妹长得都很像(all look really similar),所以Chandler只得承认说他实在不能确定哪一个才是Mary-Angela,因为他当时喝醉了(I was really drunk)。drunk除了可作形容词表示“喝醉了的”之外，它还可作名词表示“醉鬼”，如：A couple of drunks were passed out on the sidewalk.(几个醉鬼醉倒在街边。)

　　听到Chandler说他认不出哪个是Mary-Angela, Joey的姐妹们可是群情激愤，其中的一个更是喊道：I say, punch him Joey.动词punch在这里表示“打击”，但是与beat或hit不同的是，punch特指用拳头(fist)来打某人，后面可以跟上介词in / on来表示打在某人的什么地方，如He punched Jack in the face .另外，在办公室或工厂里面我们经常能看到名词性的punch，那就是“打孔机”或“冲床”，因此动词punch还可以解释为“打孔”，比如很多公司都会实行打卡考勤制度，在美语中就把这说成是punch the clock，例：Bob is glad to have a jobswhereshe doesn't have to punch the clock.

　　通常碰到这种情况Joey肯定就会出手的，只是他从未想到Chandler会是他打击的对象(that is usually what I would do. But I just never thought you'd be on the receiving end of it.)Chandler也知道如果Joey要打他的话，他也是活该被打的，所以他说：Joey if you wanna punch me, go ahead, I deserve it.不过Chendler还是向Joey表达了自己的歉意，并保证永不再犯类似的错误(I would never do anything like this ever again.) ever这个词用在again前面起到了一个强调的作用，表示“再也不会..”同时Chandler在说在这句话时，也把重音放在了这个ever之上，更显示出自己的诚意与决心。

　　Joey的姐妹们可没那么容易就放过他，其中一个名叫cookie的说：So what. I say, punch him.在口语中，so what的意思是“那又怎么样”，一般说这句话的人都会带着一种满不乎的口气，就像cookie那样，又例如：'She might tell someone.' 'So what? No one will believe her.'

　　Joey和Chandler毕竟是好朋友，他还是原谅了Chandler，没有punch him,然后他让Chanlder向Mary-Angela道歉，可怜的Chandler还是没认出是哪一个，结果挨了cookie一拳。
