  三、阅读理解

Around the world young people are spending unbelivable sum of money to

listen to rock music. Reports say that at least fifty rock stars have income

between two million and six million dollars per year.

Luck is the very word to explain the success of the many rock singers. In

1972 one of the luckiest was KonMclean, who wrote and sang“American Pie”,

and he earns an extra two cents on every single record of his song.

Neil Young who performs in torn jeans, sometimes sings to an audience of

10,000, each of whom has paid five dollars for a ticket. After paying all

the expenses, Young still leaves himself about18,000 at the end of an

  evening.

How do stars use their money? What do they do when the money is pouring in

like water? Most of the young stars simply show the money round. England's

Elton John gave one of his friends a438,000 Rolls Royce car, and then

bought himself even more expensive cars—one for each foot. Then when they

need money again, they do another tour. They save no money and live from

  hand to mouth.

In the end the rock starslife is unsatisfactory. After two or three

years, wealth and fame are soon gone. With old and sweet memories and his

tax problems left, the lonely experformer spends his remaining years,

trying to attract strangers while new stars have arrived to take his place.

1This passage is mainly about____ .

A.the success of a rock star

  B.The wonderful performance

  C.Their nice music

  D.Their age young enough

3How much does Neil Young should pay for a performance?

  A.10,000. B.18,000 C.32,000 D.50,000

4How many cars did Elton John buy himself?

  A.Four B.Three C.Two D.One

5After being rich and famous for several years, rock stars____ .

A.can give performance to strangers only

B.only remember their old good days

C.are still popular among the young fellows

D.are replaced by new ones and forgotten
