　　硬币

　　The earliest coins in the world were used in China from more than 3,000

　　(1)“be+of+a+普通名词”，说明主语的形状、年龄、大小、色度等特征，表示“同一的”，这种结构实际上相当于“be+of+the same+该名词”，这样的名词有age、shape、color、size、kind等。

　　The two boys are of an age.

　　=The two boys are of the same age.这两个男孩同岁。

　　(2)“be+of+普通名词或物质名词”表示“由……组成”或“由……制成”，相当于be made up of或be made of。例如：

　　The bridge in our village is of stone.

　　=The bridge in our village is made of stone.我们村子里的桥是由石头砌成的。

　　We never know the value of water till the well is dry.井干方知水可贵。

　　4.in the past在过去

　　The old man led a miserable life in the past.过去老人过着悲惨的生活。

　　5.different kinds of不同种类的

　　There are different kinds of animals in the zoo.

　　动物园里有各种各样的动物。

　　6.ing短语

　　dating from ...作定语，相当于一个定语从句...which dated from the years...,修饰先行词coins。date作“起始”、“兴起于”解，与常用介词from一起构成短语动词date from,意思是“始于……时期”，有时也用date back to。
