　　I'd rather是would rather的缩略形式.would rather意为"宁可"、"宁愿",表示主观上的选择,后接动词原形.例如:

　　I'd rather have some soup to start with.我宁愿先喝点汤.

　　would rather的否定式是在rather后加not;疑问句把would提前.例如:

　　The boy said he would rather not join us in the outing this time.那男孩说他宁可不参加我们这次远足.

　　Which would you rather have, tea or beer?你愿意喝点什么,茶还是啤酒?

　　如表示"宁可干……而不干……"要用句型would rather do sth. than do sth..例如:

　　I'd rather stay at home than go out.我宁可呆在家里也不出去.

　　注:若than前后动词相同,则可省略than后面的动词,只保留与than前面不同的成分.例如:

　　I'd rather read a novel than a poem.我宁愿看小说而不愿朗读诗歌.

　　would rather后面接从句时要用虚拟语气.表示现在或将来时,从句的谓语动词用一般过去时;若从句中表示过去,动词用过去完成时.例如:

　　They would rather I went there tomorrow.他们宁愿我明天去那里.

　　I would rather that you hadn't gone to the cinema yesterday evening.要是你昨晚没去看电影就好了.

　　Tell him that I am here now immediately/as soon as/the moment you see him.你一见到他,就告诉他我现在在这里.

　　The police arrested him because he was supposed to have killed the manager.警察逮捕了他,认为他杀死了经理.

　　suppose意为"猜想,认为,设想",是及物动词,其后可接从句、不定式的复合结构,还可以直接跟so或not来表示对某事情的肯定或否定看法.例如:

　　Who could have supposed that it was you who did it?谁会想到这事竟是你干的?

　　All her neighbours supposed her to be an actress.她的邻居都认为她是个女演员.
