【编者按】2003年全国中学生英语能力竞赛(NEPCS)初赛和决赛分别于2003年11月23日和12月28日顺利举行。为了让同学们更好地了解2003年竞赛,备战2004年竞赛,特邀王志勇老师对2003年全国中学生英语能力竞赛赛题进行解析,以期对同学们有所帮助。

　　2003年全国中学生英语能力竞赛(NEPCS)高一组决赛试题由两大部分组成,即听力部分和笔试部分。答题时间为120分钟,试卷总分值为150分。

　　听力部分

　　听力测试时需要注意的一些方面在本学期第27期中的"2003年全国中学生英语能力竞赛高一组初赛试题解析①"中已有很详细的讲解。在此不再赘述。

　　第一节:听辨单词

　　先读一遍每组中的单词,再仔细听句子,句中有很多信息帮助确定答案。

　　如第1小题:句中的won, silver, swimming championship等都可帮助确定所听到的词应是medal。再如第2小题中的She didn't understand what he meant与several times可帮助确定答案为A。

　　I.听辨单词(Words)(共5小题,计5分)

　　请听句子,然后从A、B、C、D四个选项中选出在你所听到的句子中所含的单词。每个句子只读一遍。

　　第二节:句子理解

　　例如第6小题:A、C、D都说去过the Philippines,可见B项应排除;D项与常识不符,也应排除。这时听力的焦点集中在是否有time欣赏the beautiful scenery。在句中可听到but there was no time for that,可知C项正确。

　　再如第7小题:根据对英美文化背景的常识可知A、D不符合实际。B项实际上也不合理。所以答案可能是C。在录音中听到but you cannot buy spirits from a shop until you are eighteen,答案果然是C。

　　II.句子理解(Sentences)(共5小题,计5分)

　　请听句子,然后从A、B、C、D四个选项中选出一个与你所听到的句子意思一致或相近的选项。每个句子只读一遍。

　　6. A. I spent a little time enjoying the beautiful scenery when I visited the Philippines last month.

　　B. I didn't visit the Philippines last month because I had no time.

　　C. I visited the Philippines last month, but I had no time to see the country's beautiful scenery.

　　D. I didn't find any beautiful scenery in the country when I visited the Philippines last month.

　　7. A. People are not allowed to drink spirits in the UK.

　　B. In the UK, children under eighteen can buy spirits, but they are not allowed to drink them.
