1. 强调时间状语、地点状语、原因状语或方式状语均用that，而不用when, where, why等。例如：

　　1)It was in the park that they met for the first time.

　　2)It is at seven o'clock that they have breakfast every day.

　　2. 强调的成分有主语、宾语、宾补、状语，但不能强调句子的谓语动词。例如：

　　1)It was Tom that they called just now. (强调宾语)

　　2)It is my teacher that often helps me with my lessons. (强调主语)

　　3. 强调句在强调主语时，that/who后边的动词应和主语在人称和数上保持一致。例如：

　　1)It is my parents who/that are singing in the next room.

　　2)It is I who/that am going for a holiday with Mary.

　　4. 如果强调疑问词，应该把疑问词放在句首。例如：

　　1)When is it that we'll hold a meeting?

　　2)Who was it that called this morning?

　　5. 在强调结构中去掉It is/was...that/who这几个标志词之后，在不添词、不减词的前提下能重新排列成一个完整的句子，这也是区别某些以it开头，含有定语从句或状语从句的复合句的依据。例如：

　　1)It was on Oct. 1, 1949 that New China was founded. (强调结构。该句可还原为：New China was founded on Oct. 1, 1949.)

　　2)It was Oct. 1, 1949 when New China was founded. (when引导的定语从句)

　　6. 强调句中的谓语动词be可以演变为might be或must have been等形式。例如：

　　1)It might be tomorrow that we should arrive.

　　2)It must have been in the street that you met him.

　　7. not...until...句式的强调句形式为：It wasn't until...that ...。例如：

　　1)It was not until yesterday that I finished the book. (原句为：I didn't finish the book until yesterday. )

　　2)It was not until she took off her glasses that I realized that she was a famous film star.
