【编者按】本刊2004年1-3期已专门对2003年全国中学生英语能力竞赛高二组初赛试题进行了解析,相信大家对竞赛试题的题型、解题思路及解题方法都有了一定的了解.本刊从第4期起对2003年全国中学生英语能力竞赛高二组决赛试题进行解析,敬请继续关注本栏目。

　　NEPCS决赛试题的命题原则、体例以及题型和分值分布等均与初赛完全一致,只是试题难度略有提升,因为参加决赛的是全国各地的英语学科的顶尖高手。另外,命题范围有所扩大,由初赛只考到高二上册Unit 7扩大为高二上册全册。鉴于版面有限,现就部分试题分析如下:

　　听力部分

　　1-5题为听辨单词,是听力最低层次的要求,难度不大,是考查同学的词汇掌握、单词辨音的能力。(此部分略)

　　6-10题为句子理解题,多为同义句,现将听力原文及解析提供如下。

　　6. A. Ann seldom rides to the office with Elizabeth.

　　B. Ann is out of town.

　　C. Elizabeth's business makes it possible for her to give Ann a ride to the office today.

　　D. Elizabeth most often gives Ann a ride to the office.

　　7. A. Louise is a very good tennis player.

　　B. I like to play tennis with Louise very often.

　　C. I enjoy playing tennis regularly with Louise.

　　D. I hope not to play tennis with Louise.

　　8. A. Mr. Smith's train left at ten thirty.

　　B. Mr. Smith's train left at eleven thirty.

　　C. Mr. Smith's train left at twelve o'clock.

　　D. Mr. Smith's train left at twelve thirty.

　　9. A. Nine oranges were good.

　　B. Twelve oranges were good.

　　C. Three oranges were good.

　　D. All the oranges were bad.

　　10. A. Ottawa is Lisa's hometown.

　　B. Lisa will go to Ottawa after her exams are over.

　　C. Lisa will leave Ottawa in order to take her exams.

　　D. Ottawa is the best city for Lisa to live in.

　　6. D。听力原文:Ann usually rides to the office with her friend Eliabeth, but today Eli- zabeth's out of town on business. A项中seldom与听力中的usually相悖。Elizabeth今天外出出差去了,而不是Ann,故B错.这样她今天没有为Ann提供搭乘便车的机会,C也可排除。

　　7. D。听力原文:Playing tennis with Louise is certainly not an experience I look forward to.和Louise打网球当然不是"我"期盼的经历,显然I hope not to play tennis with Louise.

　　8. B。听力原文:Mr. Smith got to the railway station at noon, missing his train by half an hour.中午到火车站,迟了半小时,他的火车自然是:left at eleven thirty.

　　9. A。听力原文:Alice bought a dozen oranges, but when she got them home, she found three were bad.买了a dozen (一打为12个),有3个是坏的,自然好的是nine。

　　10. B。听力原文:Lisa will leave for Ottawa as soon as she finishes her exams.本句的测试点有2点:1. leave for Ottawa前往Ottawa,等于go to Ottawa,而不是"leave Ottawa离开Ottawa"。 2. as soon as"一……就……",可换成after引导的从句。

　　11-15题为5段小对话,因问题未在试卷上给出,应试时同学们应在听懂对话的同时,注意听清问题。(此部分略)

　　16-20题为一段长对话,较之A)部分,难度加大,回答问题时应全面考虑。(此部分略)

　　21-30为短文理解题,共有两篇短文,每篇短文设5个问题.现就A篇解析如下:

　　Passage A

　　There is a story going round at the moment about a well-known journalist who went to interview Jack Parrish at a smart New York restaurant. The journalist was late, but fortunately, when he arrived, he found the great man was not yet there. After fifteen minutes, a waiter came up to him. There's some young man at the door who says he's supposed to be having lunch with you. I think he's trying to be funny, because he says his name is Jack Parrish!

　　But of course it was. The twenty-four-year-old is becoming famous for the fact that he doesn't look like the owner of one of the world's most successful computer companies. His manner is polite, his voice is quiet and his clothes are clearly not expensive. Two years ago, when he started his own company, no one had heard of him. Friends say that he hasn't changed at all. He hasn't even moved out of his parents' house. So what does he do with his money?It's all in his company. But some people in the computer world are getting nervous and they are right. It won't be long before someone in another company picks up the phone to hear that quiet voice saying that he's the new boss.

　　23. D。故事告诉我们:服务员没想到该著名记者要采访的大名鼎鼎的Jack Parrish竟是位24岁的年轻人,故当Jack Parrish来到宾馆,自报姓名,并称记者在等他时,该服务员还认为他是"冒牌货"。

　　24. A。在作者眼里,虽然Jack Parrish衣着朴素,行为礼貌,说起话来文质彬彬,可他却是世界上最成功的电脑公司之一的老板.他是"貌似普通,实则不凡"。

　　25. C。通过材料的最后一句以及全篇内容可知答案。

　　笔试部分

　　本题考查不定代词的选用.根据"They are expensive and of little use."为否定回答,选A。

　　本题考查非谓语动词,答案为B。根据问句,可知答语为句子主语,A和D可排除。再根据made为过去时,可排除C,因不定式表示尚未发生的动作。

　　本题考查动词词组的选用,答案为B。

　　本题考查虚拟语气。与过去情况相反,从句中应使用had+过去分词,答案为A。
