  Passage 2

1.work。该篇文章谈的是托马斯·爱迪生一生中戴过许多顶帽子,如第一段中所谈到的“work caps”、“the caps of many famous schools and colleges”。

  2.thinking。

  3.life。

4.operation。根据第二段 “The doctor came and had to operate at once”,该空应填手术的名词形式,因该空前有不定冠词an。

  5.bright。根据第二段中的“…there was not enough light…”

  6.enough。

  7.using。 意思相同,又因be good at后接动名词形式,所以此空填using。

8.most。根据第四段“He was interested in every thing. But most of all he was interested in electricity.”

9.inventions。根据第四段“If we look around us,we can see many of Edisons inventions.…They are very common.”

  10.made。该句与第四段“Edison's thinking cap made them…”

  Passage 3

The devil knows many things because he is old.

The finest diamond must be cut.

  Passage 4

  3.A。

  7.D。

9.B。由后面的 “When his father told him to do some housework, he went on thinking of it.”

  10.D。由空白后的“questions”可排除B、C两项,因为little,a little 修饰不可数名词;再根据“…and his father answered all.”

  12.A。 Why?”

  13.A。Mike

1.He could not buy enough food to eat. (Line 2, Passage 1)

You have enough time (=time enough)to finish the work.

He is old enough to go to school.

  He ran fast enough.

  2.He was interested in everything. (Line 12, Passage 2)

That boy was/became interested in the interesting picturebook.
