　　考点透视：及物动词discover的意思是“发现”，即发现本来存在的东西，而invent的意思是“发明”，即发明本来没有的东西。

　　解读：electric lamp 电灯，是本来没有的东西，应是“发明”，故选A。

　　考点透视：形容词traditional的意思是“传统的；惯例的；口传的；传说的”，如：the traditional handshake惯例性的握手；a traditional wedding ceremony传统结婚典礼。

　　考点透视：tell的词义比较灵活，作及物动词跟双宾语，即tell sb. sth.表示“告诉某人某事”或跟复合宾语，如tell sb. to do sth.表示“告诉某人做某事”。tell表示“分辨；辨认；识别”时，常与can / could / be able to连用，短语tell...from...的意思是“把……与……区分开”；tell the time的意思是“看钟；报时”；tell还有“显示；表明”等意思。

　　解读：句意是“时间会证明我的选择是否正确”，故选D，此处tell意思是“表明；证明”。

　　2) It seems difficult to ________ “hurt” from “injure” in meaning.

　　解读：根据题干的介词from和in meaning “在意义上”可知句意是“辨别hurt与injure意思的区别似乎不容易”，故选B,考查短语tell... from...。judge from...的意思是“从……判断”；divide... into...的意思是“把……分成……”； separate from...的意思是“从……中分离出来”。

　　4. They play music to satisfy their inner desire.

　　考点透视：satisfy作及物动词意思是“使满足；使满意”，表示“对……感到满意”，用短语be satisfied with。satisfactory是形容词，意思是“令人感到满意的”；satisfaction是名词，意思是“满意；满足；令人满意的事物”。

　　考题重现：1) Nick is looking for another job because he feels that nothing he does ________ his boss.

　　A. serves B. satisfies C. promises D. supports

　　解读：“觉得所做的一切好像没有一件使老板满意”是“Nick重新找工作” 的原因，根据句意和备选项四个动词的意思可知B正确。

　　2) What he has done is far from _______.

　　A. satisfactory B. satisfied C. satisfaction D. satisfy

　　解读：句中far from的意思是“远非；完全不”，是副词短语，由is可知所填的单词应是作表语的形容词，而satisfied修饰人，所以选A。
