1. notice; mind; note notice“注意;注意到”,常指无意识的注意。例如: He passed by me without noticing me. 他从我身边走过,但没有注意到我。 Someone in the ticket office happened to notice her. 有人在售票处碰巧看到了她。 I didn't notice you. 我没有注意到你。 mind“注意;留心”,指用心注意的意思。例如: Mind what you are about. 注意你所做的事情。 Mind that you don't forget to mail the letters. 注意可别忘了寄信。 Mind your head! 小心别碰了头! note“注意;注意到”,原意是记录下,以便记忆,所以语意较强。例如: Please note how the machine is operated. 请注意机器的操作方法。 These should be thoughtfully noted. 这些都应留心注意。 I noted what he said. 我留意到他的话。 2. be afraid of; be afraid to be afraid of后跟名词、代词,意为“害怕某人或某物”,后接V-ing形式常表示“害怕或担心发生某种(意外)情况”。如: I'm afraid of a dog. 我怕狗。 He is afraid of falling behind. 他担心落后。 be afraid to后跟动词,常表示“因为害怕而不敢或没胆量去做某事”。如: The little boy was afraid to go near the monkey.这小男孩不敢走近那只猴子。 3. steal; rob 这两个词都表示非法窃取他人的财物。 steal的意思是“偷;盗窃”,指暗中窃取他人的东西,是个普通意义上的用词。steal的宾语是被偷盗的东西,而不是人或场所,常用结构为steal sth. from ...。如: Someone stole my bag last night when I was out. 昨天晚上我外出时,有人偷了我的包。 A thief stole an old painting from the museum. 一个窃贼从这家博物馆偷走了一幅古老的油画。 rob的意思是“抢劫;掠夺”,尤其指用暴力强取别人的东西,有时也指暗中偷窃。它的宾语通常是被抢的人或场所,而不是被抢的东西。常用的结构是rob sb. / sth. of sth.。robber是指利用暴力威胁、抢劫他人的“强盗”。它的另一个名词robbery的意思是“抢夺;抢劫(的行为或案件)”。如: They robbed the bank of thousands of dollars. 他们从银行抢了数千美元。 He lived on robbing the poor. 他以抢掠穷人为生。 (文/徐英华;英语辅导报初三版04—05学年度第19期;版权归英语辅导报社所有,独家网络合作伙伴新浪教育,未经许可,不得以任何形式进行转载。) |
