Chinese archaeologists have discovered a 5,000-year-old stone sword with a constellation carved on it in the western province of Qinghai. The Beijing Morning Post reported that the sword is six centimeters long and three centimeters wide, with the mythical characters for Triones (another name for the Ursa Major constellation) and the star Altair carved on it. It was previously thought that the earliest recorded observation of a solar eclipse was in 2137 B.C., but the sword may indicate that it was thousands of years earlier. (CRI) |
