　　1.He works harder by far than his elder brother。

　　他比他哥哥工作努力得多

　　2.He is by far the taller of the two basketball players。

　　He is by far the tallest of all the palyers on the team。

　　他是球队中所有球员中最高的

　　3.His explanation is by far clearer than the old one。

　　他的解释比原来的解释要清楚得多

　　(by far最……；比……得多)

　　4.The more you read,the better you understand。

　　5.The higher up you go ,the colder it becomes。

　　6.A body weighs less the further it gets from the surface of the earth。

　　=The further it gets from the surface of the earth ,the less the body

　　Weighs。

　　(注意：主句的形容词或副词可以不提前)

　　The sooner ,the better。

　　越快，越好。

　　no+比较级+than表示“A和B都不……”

　　not+比较级+than表示“A不如B……”

　　7.This book is no more interesting than one 。

　　这本书和那本书都没有趣

　　8.This book is not more interesing than that one。

　　这本书不如那本书有趣。

　　9.He works no harder than I。

　　他和我都不用功

　　10.He doesn't work harder than I。

　　他不如我用功

　　More than不仅仅no more than 只不过；仅仅not more than =at most不多于

　　11.There are no more than ten students in the classroom。

　　教室里仅有10个学生

　　12.There are not more than ten students in the classroom。

　　教室里至多有10个学生

　　13.He is no more than a child,so I don't take him too seriously。

　　他不过是个孩子，所以我根本不把他当回事。

　　14.In our students' eyes,he is more than a teacher ,he is more like our friend。

　　在我们学生眼里，他不仅仅是个老师，他更像我们的朋友。

　　More +adj./n.+than +adj./n. 与其说……倒不如说……

　　15.My uncle ,Pliny the elder ,looked more asleep than dead。

　　与其说我叔叔老普利尼是死的，倒不如说他睡着了。

　　16.He is more of a student than of a teacher。

　　与其说他是个老师，倒不如说他是个学生。

　　17.He is more diligent than clever。

　　与其说他聪明，倒不如说他勤奋

　　Superior较高的，上好的，出众的，高傲的；inferior下等的，下级的，次的，自卑的；

　　Senior年长的，资格较老的，地位较高的，高级的；junior年少的，下级的，后进的，和to搭配，构成比较级。

　　18.This western restaurant is superior to the one we went to last week。

　　这家西餐馆比我们上星期天的那一家好。

　　19.His work is inferior to mine 。

　　他的工作不如我。

　　20.He is three years junior to me 。

　　=He is junior to me by three years。

　　他比我小三岁。

　　21.She is senior to everyone else in the company。

　　她在公司里的地位比其他人都高。

　　So +adj./adv.+that

　　Such(a/an)+adj.+n.+that“如此……以至于……”，引导结果状语。

　　22.His English was so limited that he couldn't understand what the native speakers said。

　　他的英语水平太有限，不能理解英国本土人所说的话。

　　23.He was so devoted to his students that he often fell ill from overworking。

　　他如此挚爱自己的学生，以至于常常因为疲劳过度而生病。

　　24.It was such warm weather that we went swimming。

　　25.Table tennis is such a popular game that people all over the world play it。

　　关于so/such…that…句型还须注意四点：

　　当名词前有many/much/few/little修饰时，用so+n.+that结构。即so many/much/few/little+n.+that…

　　26.There were so many people in the street watching the fire that firefighters couldn't get close to the building。

　　27.The Westerners eat so much fat and sugar that they put on weight easily。

　　28.The country has so little coal that it has to import large quantities of coal。

　　29.There are so few fish in the pool that we can't fish them easily

　　当名词时单数可数名词、名词前又有形容词修饰时，此时这两种结构可以相互转换。即such+a/an+adj.+n.+that=so adj.+a/an+n.that

　　30.He is such an honest person that you can depend on him when you're in trouble。

　　31.He is so honest a person that you can depend on him when you're in trouble。

　　由so…that和such…that引导的结果状语从句的倒装结构；

　　当so和其后的形容词或副词；such连同后面的名词放在句首时，主句使用倒装结构(相当于把主句变成一般疑问句)。

　　32.Such great progress has he made in his studies that we all admire him。

　　Such…that句型的特殊性：such后可以不出现adj。和n.,也可以倒装。

　　33.His behavior. was such that all his friends deserted him。

　　=Such was his hehavior that all his friends deserted him。

　　他的行为举止如此让人讨厌，结果他的朋友都离开了他。

　　34.The force of the explosion was such that all the windows were broken。

　　=Such was the force of the explosion that all the windows were broken。

　　爆炸的威力如此巨大以至于所有的窗户都被震碎了。

　　In order that和so that(为了……)，引导目的状语从句
