Brian:how were u sleeping last night, Nikky?
Nikky:couldn’t feel better
Brian:wait a minute, i saw a news from yahoo! that your president W. B Bush has signed a new aviation security billsintoslaw today(布什总统签署新的航空安全条令。
Nikky:he did yesterday
Brian:it will make u feel safer if u are afraid of to fly, right? i mean , after Sept.11, most Americans are much more likely to stay away from the Airplanes. (9.11
Nikky:that is the kind of goal that we are trying to drive at. And I think that since the President declared war on terrorism, the American understand that very much. We know that life has changed since September 11.
Brian:and the Americas are expecting higher, heightened security measures(美国人希望采取更安全的措施).
Nikky:yup
Brian:so the whole Americas are told now that it's safer than pre 9/11?
Nikky:i don't know, i just try to avoid the plane as much as possible.
Brian:there is a question, nikky, there are also things that you don't see on the surface, how about the equipment used to check the people, the baggage, the x-rays and the like.
Nikky:that's a good question
Brian:i just always wonder that, u know, last time , the hijackers are using the stick-wood stick or sth like that which can pass the check equipment(这次恐怖分子用的小刀居然通过美国的飞机安检)
Nikky:that's not a area on my expertise(我在此领域并不擅长。 But as i heard it would like to get rid of all the identification(将取消身份验证) and go to maybe a hand print(指纹) or retina examination(人眼的虹膜验证) or to some kind of facial biomedical approach(或者其他的一些生物验证方法) so that you don't have to carry this kind of identification around, something that might be duplicated or stolen(这样恐怖分子就不会有机可乘,去伪造假护照了).
Brian:well, that's great, i know that each of us through, whether our eyes or fingerprints, have our own individual identity.
Nikky:u get it, smart boy, so the hijackers can no where get the fake passports
Brian:that's sth puzzled me for a long time(这个问题困扰了我很长时间.
Nikky:u are a good questioner, Brian(你提的问题很好)
Brian:why say that
Nikky:'cause u bring up a lot of questions that i never be asked before, and the questions are probably interesting.
Brian:really? If u really think so, i'd have the nerve(口语中常用:勇气) to ask u another thing
Nikky:just feel free
Brian:i do feel free with u , sweetie!
Nikky:cool
Brian:maybe on a brighter note, how does Thanksgiving look?(感恩节美国的航空公司怎么样,有人做飞机吗?)
Nikky:Actually, Thanksgiving looks great
Brian:Really?
Nikky:It may be something about what's going on in the country. Maybe September 11 had an effect in the sense that people seem to want to be with family and friends(感恩节以后,美国人更顾家了,希望多和家人和朋友在一起)
Brian:and the American Airlines(美国航空公司,这次撞向大楼的就是这个飞机公司的)is booked(订票)?
Nikky:they are booked heavily
Brian:go for it(继续说呀,口语要素)
Nikky:the airline industry doesn't have as many seats out there as they had a year ago(没有一年前生意火爆了)
