Albert Einstein
Albert Einstein was named the Person of the Century (1901-1999) by Time magazine for his contributions to science. Einstein first worked in the Swiss Patent Office in Bern before writing three scientific papers that changed the understanding of time, space and reality.
He was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1921. As a consequence of relativity, he postulated the formula, E=mc2, to understand the amount of energy required to attain the speed of light. This new law led to the Manhattan Project and the first atom bomb. Although he was blamed for Hiroshima, he was horrified by it. Later, Einstein became a pacifist.
