Brian：so are u buying any companies? (你有没有买什么股票)

　　Nikky：no, i don't, one of my friends was buying AOL, he was buying AOL and Microsoft‘cause everybody's saying that he should, that's when i knew the stock market was over(没有，我的一个朋友买了AOL，他之所以买AOL和Microsoft是因为所有的人都说应该买，但我认为这恰恰说明股市到头了)

　　Brian：but they are two good companies(但是这两个公司都很好呀)

　　Nikky：yes, they are good companies(是的，这是两个好公司)

　　Brian：but not good companies anymore, suddenly, they've become bad ones.(但现在已经不是好公司了，转眼之间，它们变成了坏公司)

　　Nikky：and he have a stock---AOL went from 80 to 40 right now(AOL股价从80下降到40)

　　Brian：that's a serious decline(这个下跌幅度很大)

　　Nikky：but he still believes that AOL will come back one day(但是他仍然相信AOL会重新站起来的)

　　Brian：i've heard that the AOL is going to buy another big company(我听说美国在线又要买另外一家公司了)

　　Nikky：well, the merger(合并) is still not completed yet, but it's pretty close there(这个合并还没有完成呢，但已经快结束了)

　　Brian：u know , in china, a lot listed companies had no solid backing(很强的背景), that there was no real income, but there stocks‘price were still so high, and one of the greatest characteristics about the Chinese stock market is its mercurial(水银的，形容变幻莫测的股市) environment.(你知道，在中国有很多上市公司没有很强的背景，也没有真正的盈利，但是它们的股价却很高，另外一个中国股市的特点之一是它的变幻莫测性)

　　Nikky：like what?(比如说？)

　　Brian：i guess most people in the market has the same experience-----what could possibly happen is when a stock--- a particular stock draw the public's attention, the experts say u should sell it , the media says u should jump off and sell it, so we sell it out at 10, and then all of sudden it went from 10 to 20, to 100 after we got off, so we got back and bought in, but then it went down to 50, and then we got off again, then it continued up(我想很多股市中的人都有相同的经历--一个非常可能发生的现象就是--某一只股票引起了众人的注意，专家们说你要抛出，媒体也说你应该离场，然后有人就在10元卖出了，但突然它就从10元跳到20元，然后是100元，当我们再次回来在100元买入时，它又下跌到50，我们只好再次离场，可是它又上涨了。

　　Brian的小结：AOL是我最喜爱的外国网站之一，我最初的ICQ软件下载就是从www.aol.com下来的，大约很早的时候AOL正式完成了与时代华纳的合并，从而成为美国最大的媒体集团。试想如果一个老外对你说我很熟悉你们的新浪网，你是不是多多少少会觉得他对中国比较了解呢。
