Brian:see u again.(又见到你了)
Nikky:how are u doing, Brian.(你好,Brian)
Brian:I'm in a good mood today.(我今天心情很好)
Nikky:what's up, anything particular?(出什么事了,有什么特别高兴的事儿么?)
Brian:made some profit in the stock market, my stock.(我赚钱了,在股市)
Nikky:pretty good, how much u earn.(很好呀,你赚了多少)
Brian:half a year ago i put 10000RMB in the stock market, and now it's nearly 12000RMB.(半年前我在股市投了10000块钱,现在变12000块了)
Nikky:big winner u are, well, in America, the Dow industrials(道琼斯工业指数) down more than 1000 to 9000, Nasdaq down to 1700, a 25-month low.(你算大赢家呀,在美国,你知道么,道琼斯工业指数下降1000多点到9000点,Nasdaq跌至1700点,25个月来最低点)
Brian:American economy is slowing down, everyone in this world knows about it, that's a slump.(美国经济在放缓,每个人都知道,这是经济衰落)
Nikky:yes, we are in a slump.(是呀,现在经济是不景气)
Brian:it is temporary, right?(暂时的,对么?)
Nikky:i don't know, no one knows that how long this situation gonna last, a horrible year, if u were in the Nasdaq, u are broke.(我不知道,没有人知道这种情形将要持续多长时间,这一年真的是很恐怖,如果你在Nasdaq的话,你会破产的【注】其实我也想告诉她,如果你在中国股市的话,情况也好不到哪去)
Brian:how much is the Nasdaq down from its high? (Nasdaq从最高点下跌了多少?)
Nikky:i don't know exact number(不知道确切数字), 50 percent i guess.(可能50%吧)
Brian:50%? That was a crash(崩溃), not a slump.(重挫)
Nikky:we can look at this situation in a different side: the average went down 50 percent from its high, there are stocks that are down 90 percent, 100 percent, 200 percent. when something goes from 100 to 50, that may be a 50 percent decline, but for it to go from 50 back to 100, that is a 100 percent increase; that is a huge amount that we have to come back just to break even.(我们可以从侧面来看待这种情况:当平均指数由最高点下落50%时,有的股票可能下跌90%,有的是100%,有的是200%,当个股从100跌到50时,下挫幅度为50%,但对于从50升到100的股票来说,涨幅就是100%了,我们要想持平的话还要走很长一段路)
Brian:so u are still optimistic.(但是你还是很自信)
Nikky:yeah, i am optimistic, and i think most American are as optimistic as i am.(是的,我很自信,我相信大多数美国人跟我一样乐观自信)
Brian:partly‘cause the stocks were overpriced.(【注】股价过高,高出其实际价格,就有水分和泡沫了,a lot of Chinese companies are overpriced in the stock market)
Nikky:they were totally overpriced.(它们的价格完全被高估了)
Brian:really? I had thought that it's only in Chinese stock marketswheresthe stocks were overpriced, u make me understand that the world stock is the same.(真的么?我还以为只有在中国股市才会出现这种价格泡沫现象呢,你让我感觉到世界股市都一个样)
Nikky:what about the Chinese stock market? What u have, ASE(美国证券交易所America Stock Exchange) or NYSE(纽约证券交易所New York Stock Exchange) like here in US(中国股市是怎么一个样子,比如我们美国有美国证券交易所和纽约证券交易所)
Brian:well, here in China we have two exchanges, one is in Shanghai----Shanghai Stock Exchange, and the other is in Shenzhen(a south coast city, develops very, very quickly)----Shenzhen Stock Exchange , almost every the listed companies all over China is either coming from the SHTE or from the SZTE(在中国我们有两个证券交易所,上海和深圳证券交易所,中国所有的上市公司都在这两个证券交易所上市.【注】H股在这里就不向她介绍了)
Nikky:for foreign investors too?(也为境外人开放么)
Brian:good point(问的好), a pro(专家) u are, in China we call the listed companies (1000 around i think but still expands )“A stock market”, means just open for domestic, and here early this year we launch a law to open the“Brian:stock market”to the domestic people as well, but only the foreign currencies were allowed, like hk3(港元) (这个问题提的非常好,你真是个专家,在中国我们称上市公司(大约1000多吧,现在还在扩展),A股专门为境内人士开放,今年年初又颁布一项法律开放B股市场给本国人,但只能用美元或者港元)
