　　Meaning: to do or say something intended to make one feel worse.

　　这个习惯用语实际上是由rub salt in the wound缩短而来，而中文里正好有个蛮对应的说法，即：往伤口上撒盐。另外，rub it in也可以表示向别人反复地讲某件不太愉快的事，如：Father never failed to rub it in/into the family how much they depended on his money.
