一、learn和study

　　1. learn一般侧重学习成果，因此，可译为"学会"、"学到"；而study则侧重学习过程。

　　2. learn一般用于"从不知到知、不会到会"的初级学习阶段或有模仿性的操作技艺等；study则用于比较高深或周密的学习研究。

　　3. "向……学习"应该说"learn from sb."，而不能说"study from sb."

　　4.在某学校"读书"、"念书"要用study，而不能用learn。

　　5. learn还有"知道"、"听说"之意，而study没有这些意思。

　　请看下面的例子：

　　①Li Fen wants to learn English from Jim's father.李芬想跟吉姆的父亲学习英语。

　　②Where does Wu Bin study? He studies in Beijing University.吴彬在哪里学习？他在北京大学学习。

　　二、photo, picture和drawing

　　1. photo多指"照片"。例如：

　　It's a nice photo.这是一张好照片。

　　Are there any photos in the book?书里有照片吗？

　　"照相"应译为"take a photo(picture)".

　　2. picture多指"图画"，也可指"照片"，常与photo互换，但photo不能作"图画"解。例如：

　　Is there a tree in the picture?画里有棵树吗？

　　May I take a picture for you?我给你照张相好吗？

　　3. drawing多指"线条图"、"素描"，如工程图、钢笔画和铅笔画等。例如：

　　Are there any photos in the book?书里有照片吗？

　　No, there aren't any photos, but there are many drawings.没有，但有许多图。

　　三、help和give…a hand

　　1. help可作动词，也可用作名词，意思是"帮助"。例如：

　　Does she often help you?她常常帮助你吗？

　　Thanks for your help. =Thank you for helping me.谢谢你的帮助。

　　He doesn't need any help.他不需要任何帮助。

　　help还常用于下列句式：

　　help sb. (to) do sth. ; help sb. with sth.。例如：

　　Let me help you find it.我来帮你找到它。

　　He helps his friends with their English.他帮助他的朋友们学习英语。

　　2. give sb. a hand意思是"给予……帮助"，它常指动手方面的帮助。例如：

　　Can you give me a hand?(Can you give me some help?)你能给我帮助吗？

　　四、borrow和lend

　　1. borrow意思是"借入"，(从主语的角度讲)表示"借入他人的东西，自己暂时使用"。例如：

　　May I borrow your dictionary?我可以借你的词典用吗？

　　borrow...from是"从(向)……借某物"的意思。例如：

　　May I borrow some (money) from you?我可以从你那里借一些(钱)吗？

　　2. lend意思是"借出"，(从主语的角度讲)表示"把自己的东西暂时借出给别人"。例如：

　　You mustn't lend the book to others.你一定不要把这本书借给别人。
