  【录音原文】Part IV. Passages

Listen to the following two passages and choose the best answer to each question. Each passage will be read twice.

  Passage A

(Man) I am now a college student. I think I have been successful in my studies, but I am not the kind of student who is cleverer than others. I know perfectly well that I need to spend more time than others on my studies. Only by working hard can I make great achievements in my studies.

As a child I'd learn things by heart, poems, for example, but then my parents would give me a hand. When I was at senior high school, I didn't rely 100% on my own abilities. I knew then what my weaknesses and strengths were, so I didn't study on my own. I was good at history, geography and English, for example, but not good at maths. Whenever I met with a difficult problem that I couldn't work out, I would turn to my teachers or classmates for help. I wouldn't be any good without the help of my teachers and classmates.

I was always wide awake when the teachers were explaining things. I would take notes. All I needed to do later was to look through the notes I had made, to make sure I would remember things, otherwise I'd soon forget them.

I would spend much of my spare time reading all sorts of extra reading materials, which were no doubt very useful.

I often try to help the senior high students by telling them to study as I did,but of course what works for me may not work for others.

  (B)

  26. What is the Blue Restaurant like?

  A. It is not a new place.

  B. It is not a high building.

  C. It is not so clean.

  D. It is nameless.

  27. Why do people like this restaurant?

  A. It is the largest building in the city. B. The name of the restaurant sounds good.

  C. It serves delicious food and the service is excellent.

  D. It has candle-light in the hall.

  28. Why might people like to give this restaurant another try?

  A. The food there is cheap.

  B. All the customers can enjoy the beautiful scenery from the restaurant.

  C. The restaurant has a handsome boss.

  D. There have been some improvements to the restaurant.

  29. Where does this restaurant lie?

  A. Beside the River Thames.

  B. Beyond the city centre of London.

  C. Under a bridge. D. In a ship.

  30. Who can enjoy the excellent views of the River Thames and Tower Bridge?

  A. Only the people sitting at the indoor tables.

  B. Only the people sitting by the windows.

  C. People sitting anywhere in the restaurant.

  D. People walking around in the restaurant.

  从各问题题干和所给备选项中可了解到本篇短文是介绍一家餐馆特色的。第30小题暗示在这里可以看到the River Thames and Tower Bridge,所以第29小题中的A项与第30小题中的B项较为合理。人们常去一家餐馆的最一般的理由是food 与service的质量,所以第27小题中C项更为合理。联系整体,第26小题应排除C项与D项。听两遍录音, 确定答案。

  【录音原文】Passage B

Tonight we're taking a look at one of the city's leading restaurants-the Blue Restaurant. Our idea was to find places not only where the food is good and the service all you'd expect it to be, but also where you get a good view at the same time.

Well, this restaurant is not a new place, but if you've been there before, you might like to give it another try because there have been a number of improvements here in the last few months. We'd advise you to sit by the windows and enjoy the excellent views of the River Thames, whatever the weather. If it gets too hot, the glass slides back and you're in the open air, but if it gets cold or starts to rain, the windows will close by themselves. Another advantage is that, from there, you can get an excellent view of Tower Bridge, which is not really visible from the indoor tables.
