现行高一英语教材与旧教材相比，无论在内容上还是在形式上都有很大的变化。材料新颖活泼，时代感强，贴近现代生活，能激发学生的学习兴趣。通过一些词语可见一斑。

　　一、信息方面

　　1. e-pal(key pal) 网友

　　He likes to chat with his e-pal on the Internet. 他喜欢上网与网友聊天。

　　2. broadband 宽带

　　They are collecting money for the broadband project. 他们正在为宽带工程筹款。

　　3. cellphone 手机

　　Cellphones make it possible for us to talk to anyone from anywhere. 手机使我们可以在任何地方与任何人交谈成为可能。

　　4. surf the Internet: 上网

　　Modern cellphones are more than just phones—they are being used as cameras and radios, and to send e-mail or surf the Internet. 现代的手机不只是电话，它们还被当作照相机和收音机，并用来发电子邮件或上网。

　　5. life on the go 移动人生

　　Wang Mei is one of many Chinese teenagers who live life on the go and use cellphones. 中国的许多青少年都使用手机，过着移动人生，王梅就是其中之一。

　　二、科技方面

　　1. eco-travel 生态旅游

　　We like eco-travel because it is a form of travel that combines normal tourism with learning. 我们喜欢生态旅游，因为它是一种把平常旅游和学习结合在一起的好的旅游方式。

　　2. clone 克隆

　　Some scientists are studying human cloning. 一些科学家正在研究人类的克隆。

　　3. test-tube baby试管婴儿

　　The parents are taking good care of their test-tube baby. 父母正在精心照顾他们的试管婴儿。

　　三、娱乐方面

　　1. rap 说唱

　　The boys and girls are all fond of the raps performed by Zhou Jielun. 男孩女孩都喜欢周杰伦的那种说唱表演。

　　2. blockbuster 电影(大片)

　　Jaws, one of his first films, was a real blockbuster. 他(斯皮尔博格)的早期电影之一《大白鲨》的确是一部大片。

　　3. follow-up 续集，后续

　　After these highly successful films Spielberg made several follow-ups of Jaws and Jurassic Park.继这些成功的电影之后，斯皮尔博格又拍了《大白鲨》和《侏罗纪公园》的续集。

　　四、生活方面

　　1. drop sb. a line 给某人写短信

　　If you?謘re interested in making friends, drop me a line. 如果你对交朋友感兴趣的话，就给我写短信。

　　2. couch potato 电视迷

　　Every night Karl comes home from work and becomes a couch potato. He won't even get up to answer the phone. 每天晚上下班回家，卡尔就成了一个电视迷，甚至不愿起来接电话。

　　3. workaholic 工作狂

　　My father is really a workaholic and never has a break on Sundays. 我爸爸真是一个工作狂，甚至在星期天都不休息。

　　4. bookworm 书呆子

　　All work and no play will make someone a bookworm. 只学不玩会使人变成书呆子。

　　5. sportsfan 体育迷

　　The sportsfans jumped and cheered with joy when the game was over. 当比赛结束时，体育迷们欢呼雀跃。
