Consolidate Fundamental Education, Broaden Vision of Knowledge
Basic courses in the previous two years cover liberal arts, social studies, science, culture, fine arts and many other fields. On the basis of consolidating students’ command of fundamental theories, the study of the courses enhances their scientific and cultural qualities, and intensifies the training of English comprehensive abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing。
Intensify Professional Education, Emphasize Cultivation of Abilities
In the Specialized Courses system in the latter two years, the School emphasizes to cultivate students’ abilities in observing, analyzing and resolving problems, lays stress on cultivating their professional applied ability, stimulating their initiative and creativity, and training their ability of resolving practical problems in corporation operating and management。
Incorporate Education of Professional Qualities and Cultivation of Professional Abilities into Four Years’ Studies
The School includes the education and cultivation of professional qualities into four years’ studies, cultivating students’ professional ideals, and enhancing their professional abilities and qualities. At the same time, students can achieve the goal of professional ability cultivation through attending various training and activities both in and after class, on and off campus and complying with behavior management。
IV. School-enterprise Cooperation
School-enterprise Talents Co-cultivation
To meet the requirements of enterprises, the School enhances the cultivation of students’ professional qualities and abilities, and closely cooperates with enterprises, co-working and carrying out “Students Professional Competence Cultivation Plan”. The School regularly invites successful managers in the industry to give lectures, aiming at arousing students’ learning interests, intensifying their studying impetus and sense of responsibility. The School also invites personnel trainers from enterprises to train up students’ basic service skills。
Up till now, the School has signed cooperation agreements with Marriott International and InterContinental Hotels Group and co-cultivates students with them. In addition, the School has built up cooperative relationship with many famous enterprises including American Aramark, Singapore Royal Food Technology Corporation, Ltd, Shanghai Monstar Group and Horwath HTL。
Enterprises’ Donation to School
American Marriott Foundation set up a scholarship of 175 million dollars in the School。
Australian Foster Group donates wines to the School for the teaching of Wine Appreciation course and Luncheon。
Spanish Torres Group donates wines to the School for the teaching of Wine Appreciation course and Luncheon, and set up Wine Appreciation Center in the School。
American FTA offered a scholarship of 10000 dollars。
Singapore Royal Food Technology Corporation, Ltd donated 0.2 million to the School for the decoration and furniture purchase of Luncheon Laboratory。
Horwath HTL set up “China Hotel Development and Financing Conference Scholarship” for the School and offers a scholarship of 32800 per year to academic excellent students。
Set up a Platform of Practice and Employment for Students with Enterprises
The program has drawn industry wide attention since its operation and has set up cooperative relationships with numerous enterprises, providing a broaden platform of interning and practicing for students on campus, and of working career for graduates。
V. Placement of Graduates
Among all the graduates from this program, some furthered their study in the Miami BBC (Biscayne Bay Campus) in US and continued working on Master Degree of Hospitality Management; some have been separately accepted into Master Program by Connell University, University of Nevada in the United States and by Imperial College in England, and by other famous universities; most of the rest were employed by hotels affiliated to international famous hospitality groups, hotel consultant companies, cruise companies, exhibition service companies and other service enterprises. VI. Honors
In the past six years, the School has brought forward and executed a series of reform and tentative exploration, innovating the mode of cultivating international hospitality talents, making plans for cultivating students’ professional qualities and abilities, reforming classroom teaching mode and experiment teaching mode, constructing Sino-U.S. sharing faculty team, exploring win-win cooperative mode with enterprises, and has acquired staged achievements. In December of 2010, the School was awarded The Third China Hotel TOP 10 Tourism School Special “BOLE Prize”. In May of 2010, the School was awarded “Ten Most Popular International Institutions in Hospitality Industry” by Meadin. com in Ten Favorite Brands in Hospitality Industry Website Selection Activity. In November of 2009, the School was voted for Outstanding Contribution Hospitality Management School Award of “China Hotel Human Resource Management Pearl Award” by International Hotel Leadership Organization. In the same month, it was conferred Innovative Experimental Area for the Cultivation of International Hospitality Talents by Ministry of Education. In June of 2009, the School was selected as China Tourism and Hospitality Excellent Talents Cultivation Base 2008-2009 by China Hotel Conference. In May of the same year, the subject “Research and Practice of Innovative Mode of International Hospitality Management Talents Cultivation” of this program gained the second prize in Tianjin Teaching Achievement Selection. In September of 2008, the program successfully passed the accreditation of SACS and received positive evaluation. In January of the same year, the program was awarded National Base of First-rated Distinctive Major by Ministry of Education。

Talents cultivation mode and staged achievements the cooperative program has obtained arouse wide concern of media both at home and abroad. Journalists from Xinhua news, Guangming Daily, Renmin Daily, China Education Newspaper, China Tourism Newspaper, Jinwan Newspaper, Mei Rixin Newspaper, Hong Kong Ta Kung Pao, American Miami Sun Newspaper, China Central Television, and Tianjin Television successively visited the School and made reports。
