　　如何猜测生词(二)

　　③通过构词法猜词：在阅读文章时，我们总会遇上一些新词汇，有时很难根据上下文来推断其词义，而它们对文章的理解又有着举足轻重的作用，此时，如掌握了一些常用的词根、前缀、后缀等语法知识，这些问题便解决了。

　　④利用解释线索：有时我们能从生词的前后找到解释性文字。例如：On Christmas Eve—the night before Christmas day—children all over Britain put a stocking at the end of their beds before they go to sleep.从破折号后面给出的解释可知“Christmas Eve” 是“圣诞节前夕”。

　　⑤利用常识线索：有时一句话中尽管有生词，但我们可以根据某些基本常识去判断生词的意思。例如：Thomas Edison was a great American inventor. 根据常识判断“爱迪生”是“发明家”(inventor)。
