This seemingly uncontrollable situation is,to a great extent,the result of general public’s attitudes towards crime.Many people,when seeing a criminal behavior going on before them,either turn their eyes away,or just stand by,watching.Thes e reactions are induced entirely by the fear that their interference might lead to a threat to their life. From my point of view,if the present tendency continues,before long the whole society will be in a chaotic order.To improve the social security,I think more policemen are needed and more severe punishment should be imposed on criminals. Some people believe that this kind of training is quite beneficial for the youths.For one thing,the training enables them to develop a sense of discipline.For another,the training acquaints them with the basic skills in the army.However,others strongly oppose this practice,regarding it as a waste of time,because they see no connection between the training and the students future jobs. In my opinion,military training could serve as a valuable experience.On one hand,it tells those young people living on campus the meaning of hardship so as to inspire them to study harder.On the other hand it offers them at least a taste of another kind of life. Why do we have so many Chinese youths studying abroad?First of all,the advanced laboratories and sophisticated apparatuses are so appealing to them.Second,the better living standards abroad serve as another irresistible attraction.Third,better job opportunities will be waiting for them when they come back after studying abroad. If I have a chance to study abroad,I will not let go of it.Actually,I have already passed my TOFEL and GRE tests,and presently Im applying to a few wellknown American universities. There are quite a number of reasons for people keeping small animals as pets.The most important one is obviously to drive away loneliness for individuals staying home alone,especially for old people and housewives.Besides their companionship,pets bring us a lot of pleasure as well.And there are many people who simply enjoy watching small animals. If I were put into the position of choosing a pet,what comes to my mind first would be a dog because dogs are believed to be the most faithful animals and also very intelligent to understand some commands. Well-bred people pay very much attention to their manners at any time and in any place. In public places, it is always regarded as good manners not to talk in a loud voice. On a bus, a good-mannered man will give his seat to a female passenger standing by or someone older than him. A true gentleman always opens the door for a lady whenever he finds a chance. And all good-mannered people use polite words and never say anything vulgar or rude. Good manners constantly remind us that we are living in a highly civilized society,so when struggling for the improvement of our financial conditions,we should never ignore the virtues that are supposed to be attached to civilized beings. According to my observation,humorous people seem to share many common qualities.In the first place,they tend to be optimistic and openminded,seldom do we hear them complaining.Secondly,they are quickminded,capable of finding swift association between what appears to be two entirely irrelevant incidents.In addition,they often display their wide range of knowledge through their remarks. People around me are often impressed by my sense of humor.I think I owe this valuable asset to my mother,whose witty remarks have accompanied me all the way in my life. This awareness of environmental pollution serves as a big inspiring step that leads to environmental protection.Many groups have been formed either to urge the government to lay down laws for our environment or to take specific actions against environmental pollution. Environmental protection does not simply mean making a few laws,it calls for the joint effort of the whole society,for which every citizen should take his/her responsibility.
