  A Jobsearching Experience

Last Friday my English teacher told me that one of her friends was looking for an English governess. I asked for her friend’s name and phone number, determined to seize the chance and have my first job.

I was a little nervous when I went to the woman’s house. I was told that the talk between us that day would decide whether I could take the job. However, when the woman, Lucy as she was called, welcomed me into her house, I felt much relaxed. I thought as long as I was sincere and friendly I would perform well. The conversation went on smoothly. She seemed much more interested in my habits and hobbies than how good I was at English. Then it happened that I did the most talking that day. I told her about my family and school life. Obviously I succeeded and from then on I went to teach her English every weekend.

Lucy told me later that it was my sincerity that makes her willingly accept me. It is true that there are many tricks while seeking for a job, but remember to be sincere. It’s the secret of my success.

  【作文范文】

  Silence Is Not Always Gold

“Silence is gold” is a popular saying in which many people hold belief. To these people speaking too much is not a good merit. However, if you always keep silent, you will probably miss many golden opportunities instead of obtaining the gold of silence.

Last week I read an article written by an office lady. The company where she worked had two kinds of offices: cubicle office and window office. As a new employee she worked in a cubicle office together with twenty colleagues. Two years later she still worked there and some colleagues who joined in the company after her had moved into the window offices. She felt confused. One day one colleague who had a window office told her that window offices weren’t given without request. But believing that she certainly would get one if she did a good job the woman had never asked for it. She finally realized that nowadays the company wouldn’t voluntarily satisfy your needs. She greatly regretted the loss due to her silence.

From the woman’s experience we learn that silence is not always gold. In the modern society one needs to speak out his mind and speak for his own interest.

  Online Shopping

With the development of the internet, online shopping has become a new way of family shopping. More and more people do their shopping through the internet. It is very convenient to buy things online. You just press keys and the online shops will deliver the goods to you. And you can find almost anything you want, from physical goods, such as foods, clothes, to information goods, such as computer software, databases, electronic journals and so on. What’s more, you needn’t wait for a long queue to pay. In a word, online shopping has brought great convenience.

However, there exist some problems in online shopping. One thing is that you don’t have the chance to check the quality and quantity of the goods. Another thing is that it is not very safe to pay by credit card online. Furthermore, you lose the chance to communicate with others face to face. And people will become alienated.

Therefore, the best way to reconcile online shopping with our life is that doing online shopping only when you cannot spare the time to go shopping offline. And make sure that the service of the online shops and stores is of good quality.

  It Pays to Be Modest

Nowadays people attach great importance on selfconfidence and most of the young people become more and more selfcentered and to some extent a little conceited. And the traditional merit “modesty” seems a little out of date. In fact, it pays to be modest.

As the old saying goes “Modesty helps one to make progress, conceit makes one lag behind.” Once you become conceited, you won’t go on with your study and you won’t hear others advice, either. It will make you narrowminded. On the other hand, if you are modest, you will always be eager to learn new things and people will be willing to help you. By this means you’ll make progress.

To be truly modest is not an easy thing. First of all, you must bear in mind that learning is endless. Then you will know that what you have learned and what you have known are very limited. Secondly, you must learn to be broadminded and expose yourself to greater ideas. However, to be modest does not mean to lose selfconfidence.

They look forward to decent dwelling places which show their dignity. Therefore, it is urgent that effective solutions should be called attention to.

The Day We Went to a Hospital to See an AIDS Sufferer

Last Sunday all of our class together with our head teacher went to a hospital to see an AIDS sufferer. We brought a bound of flowers and a basket of fruit to send to the patient. The female patient was very glad to see us. She told us that most of the people avoided seeing her since she was told that she carried the HIV virus. The doctor told us that the HIV virus wouldn’t be infected through daily communication. People in China are often ignorant of the disease and look down upon those who suffer from AIDS. It is wrong.

During our stay there, we talked with the woman about her family and our school life. Some students sent her books and their favorite CDs. She was greatly touched and said in tears that she would be optimistic and confident of overcoming the disease. Our teacher hugged her goodbye and promised we would come to see her often.

On our way back to school, I was thinking that if every one of us loves each other more and gives a hand when others are in trouble, the world will become more beautiful.
