　　Nowadays, people in growing number show their concern about the traffic in big cities which is becoming a serious problem. More and more road accidents happen every day. In my opinion, we must take the actual situation in China into consideration, two ways of solving this problems are suggested here.Firstly，we may widen the roads and set up more express ways，and secondly we may set up more bus lines to reduce the burden of transportation during rush hours.

　　On the one hand, if more roads are widened and more express ways are set up，it would be more convenient for cars and buses to pass and traffic jams will be decreased. On the other hand, If more bus routes in downtown areas are set up, citizens will take buses in stead of driving to work which will reduce the transportation burden and people can have more choices to get to their destination if they take buses.We can also build subways.Although the project may seem to be money consuming, but it will offer us with longterm benefit.

　　In my opinion，on the one hand, we must also improve the infrastructure of the city, for example, we can build more overpasses，underpasses to let walkers go across the street without hindering traffic and a efficient subway system like that of Japan will save people a lot of time wasted on the way to their work and ease the transportation, decrease the number of cars in the main streets.On the other hand，legislative measures should be introduced, those who break the traffic rules should be severely punished. In this way road accidents can be reduced greatly in number and people may enjoy much safer traffic.

　　It can be seen from the bar chart that the number of candidates and passers in the College English Test increased sharply from 1987 to 1998. The number of students who took CET was 200,000 in 1987 rose to 1,000,000 in 1998. The rate of pass went up from 25 percent to 70 percent. Why there are more candidates taking CET and passers in CET increase?

　　In my opinion, it can be explained by the following reasons.

　　Firstly, CET is recognized by most of the companies as proof of one's English level and it is required by most of the companies when recruiting staff.

　　Secondly, the teaching and learning effect has improved a lot in recent years which result in the improvement of the students' English level, and higher pass rate. Thirdly, more and more people came to realize the importance of the certificate and came back colleges to take CET, and others take CET in order to get their degrees for they are required to pass CET before graduation.

　　In conclusion, the figure on the chart show that CET has gained great recognition and acceptance in recent years and the students' English level has also improved a lot, because of the increasing importance of CET. It can be estimated that more people will take the test next year, and the pass rate will also go up.
