据中国人民银行授权中国外汇交易中心公布，5月8日银行间外汇市场人民币汇率中间价为1美元对人民币6.1980元，再创历史新高。

　　The People's Bank of China on Wednesday set the dailyreference rate　　of the yuan against the dollar at6.1980, the highest since China unified the official and market exchange ratesat the end of 1993.

　　中国人民银行周三(5月8日)将人民币对美元的每日参考汇率定为1美元对人民币6.1980元，创下自1993年底官方汇率与市场交易汇率并轨以来的最高纪录。

　　Reference rate就是“参考汇率”，中国人民银行(People's Bank of China，也称为central bank)对外公布的当日人民币与其他货币交易的benchmark(基准价)就叫汇率中间价(central parity rate)，参考汇率(reference rate)指的就是央行公布的这个比价。

　　在相关报道中，peg这个词也需要大家注意。Peg在外汇词汇中指“盯住”，即“将本国货币按一个固定比率同一种外币或金价挂钩”，“中国取消人民币与美元挂钩”，可以用以下几种方式来表达：

　　Chinese currency was no longer be pegged to the US dollar。

　　China scraped/ditched yuan peg to US dollar。

　　China abandoned the currency's decade-old peg against the US dollar。

　　2005年7月21日起，中国开始实行“人民币不再单一盯美元，而改为与一揽子货币挂钩的汇率机制”(the move to peg the renminbi against a basket of currencies rather than just the US dollar)。
